Dystopian Fiction Blog #1: Due Wednesday 12/5

Choose one of the following prompts to explore on this group blog.  The standards are the same as your regular blog: posts should be minimally 3 paragraphs, should use direct support from the text and should leave your reader thinking.  Since this is a group blog, definitely try to start a conversation about your ideas.  As always, you need to comment on at least two posts! This is your opportunity to talk about what we didn't have time to cover in class!

Prompt #1:

Did any of the categories on the Dystopian Fiction sheet inspire you to think and write more? Unpack one of them with a full length post.

Prompt #2:

Read the following quotes and craft a post around one or more of them.  You may decide that you can write long about just one.  You may decide that you can write long about one but add other moments from the text to it.  You may decide to combine a few that you think are connected and explain why. Be creative! (Be sure to consider the context of the quote!)

"I want to die as myself. " (Peeta, page 142)

"Rue's death has forced me to confront my own fury against the cruelty, the injustice they inflict upon us..." (Katniss, page 236).

"Who cares? It's all a big show. It's how you're perceived." (Haymitch, 135)

"Everything is about them, not the dying boys and girls in the arena." (354)

"Whoever puts together the highlights has to choose what sort of story to tell." (Katniss, 362).

"What good is yelling about the capital in the middle of the woods?" (Katniss, 14).

"Here, even more strongly than at home, I feel my impotence.  There's no way to take revenge on the capitol." (Katniss, 236).
