Facing Fears.

In the book divergent by Veronica Roth is based on how the government was destroyed according to what their perspective was. The main character is Tris she can manipulate the simulation. She has an advantage because she’s divergent; being divergent is that they can’t figure out what faction they belong to because they have characteristics of other factions. As Tris has enemies who want to kill her. The decisions that she has to make are difficult because she doesn’t know who to trust. We can say that she may be courageous for helping Four with his fears. But she has an advantage on knowing how to manipulate the simulation.  By being able to do this she has more of an advantage because she knows how to control her fear.

When the protagonist is in Four’s simulation she doesn’t experience fear because it’s not her own fear. Four only has four fears but those four fears don’t leave or more fears come. Tris helps Four because it’s easier for her to face the fear because it’s not something she can relate to.  It’s easier to face a fear you can’t relate to, that statement can be argued. When Tris has to experience someone else’s fears, the fear of being kidnapped becomes one of her own. But on the other hand she helped Four with his fears. Comment bellow whether or not someone else’s fears can be your own.

This connects to the real world because even the toughest person can be the most terrified or can have fears you never imagined. Fear doesn’t come out of nowhere, controlling your own fears can be hard but how would you control someone else’s fears? Teenagers these days seem to care about nothing but in reality they are. They may be able to control it or maybe make it disappear by doing stuff they shouldn’t be doing. But fears of others can be related to our own. For example the fear if dying or seeing a loved one die is a fear we all face but how we face it.

  1. I think you are right Freddy! I definitely think that every person has fears. Whether they chose to ignore them, do things to forget about them, or face them, they are there! I think it's very interesting how being in Fours fears gave Tris another fear. I think that maybe if she didn't go into Four's fears she would have had less fears in her last simulation. I think you got some interesting points across in your response! Good job!

  2. I don't agree with you about fears. (or the author for that matter) Fears aren't things that haunt you, because you're you, they haunt you because of something in your life traumatic that you relate your fear to. I also think that the idea of facing ones fear does much more damage than it helps, if you were deathly afraid of spiders, and you were bit by one, your fear would grow, and you might also add a fear of your own house.

  3. i completely agree with you about fears. especially the fear of dying because i think that when people don't really think about it, the concept is not scary but when you actually start form questions in your head. where do you go after you die? is there really a heaven or hell? how do you get put into a category? so many questions that i think can only be answered by the people who have died. the trick is how do they tell us what waits for us ahead.
