I have recently read Hunger Game's by Suzanne Collins and Divergent by Veronica Roth. In these two books the protagonists Katniss and Beatrice can be compared very well to eachother. Katniss likes to be more independent and she doesn't depend on any friends except for gale. Still, Katniss is very independent and likes being a lone wolf. Beatrice on the other hand, likes to fit in and depends more on her peers. However, they are both somewhat similar because they both have to fight for their survival and at a very young age.
Not only are the characters different, but both stories in general are very different to me. In Hunger Games, Katniss and basically everyone else, especially in district 12, had to help support their families because family was one of the most important things to everybody. Your family was your survival because they helped support you. You had to make decisions that would influence your family. But in Divergent, your family was not as important as your faction. It seems like you had to support your faction more than anything else.
It seems that Hunger Games and Katniss are more like-able than Beatrice and Divergent. Hunger Games has more of an emotional story. Katniss is more thoughtful and caring for her family. They way that Veronica Roth wrote Divergent makes it seem like she wasn't trying to make Beatrice too like-able. The way that Divergent is written, that a faction is more important than family, makes me not have as much sympothy for Beatrice as I have for Katniss.
I agree and think that Katniss is more powerful then Tris but I feel that as the book goes on, Tris becomes a much stronger person, Great post!
