Reading response

In the book Divergent by Veronica Roth, Beatrice had to make a choice to either transfer or stay in the same faction. She finds out that during the Test she proved to be of any faction other then the ones she didn't qualify to. She can't tell anyone she's Divergent because it would lead to death. The author wants the reader to know that keeping a secret can be a dangerous thing. Beatrice also know as Tris has been suspected of being divergent, she was suspected because she did stuff that didn't correspond to her first faction which was Abnegation. He didn't follow all the rules because she wouldn't think of helping without wing told or reminded. As she was about to get discovered her partners from dauntless assaulted her because try suspected something different about her. This shows how keeping a secret can be very dangerous.

When the protagonist is assaulted it reveals how keeping that secret would lead to death if anyone would find out. Four witnessed Tris break the glass during the simulation, "Your divergent..." "What's divergent?" Tris responded. She tries to find away on making sure that no one would find out what she was. During the test she was told not to tell anyone. Keeping that secret can lead to the deaths of her loved ones and even to herself. When Tris says that she doesn't know what divergent is she has to be calm and not show cowardice. By showing cowardice she's not able to be dauntless.
People have to keep secrets to stop rebellion or hatred or sometime death from happening. Serious secrets are more of an impact of Simeon finds out the truth. This happened in our society as well, in our society we have people who make up conspiracies on what our government met be lying to u about.

This message relates to many teenagers in the real world because they have secrets about them selves or anyone else. By telling the secret to someone else or someone over hearing that secret it could lead to hatred towards each other. A quote is, " And the truth will set you free" most people would take the truth in a hurtful way. Our government knows stuff we don't know and won't tell us because our response may be rebellion. If the government were to say that the world were to end tomorrow everyone would go in rebellion and many deaths would accrue. By keeping a secret people may die depending on the type of secret they heard. That's why keeping a secret can lead to harm and rebellion against you and the person. Therefore Tris has to keep her being divergent a secret for the risk of her life.

  1. I agree that secrets can be harmful and they can cause hate, but in some cases they can be helpful. Imagine if Tris had told people that she was Divergent? That would probably endanger her family more than not telling anyone and keeping the secret.

  2. I agree with Grace. Secrets are harmful and they hurt you. But the response has a lot of details! Very nice job, overall!
