The Erudite are a faction full of inteligent people that belive that ignorance is what causes conflict. They are extremely smart in a number of different areas: Math, Science, ect. Are they pure genius? They are responsible of most of the technology the their faction and other factions use. Without the Erudit. There wouldn't be the simmulations. The other factions would lose many of the technogy they rely on and use.
Although... do they not have evil inside of them? They created the simulation that made an entire faction turn against one of their fellow almost defensless factions. They made them kill innocent people without them even knowing what was happening.
Imagin being in the position of the Daunless. You go to sleep one night. Then you wake up. Then you realize that you're not where you were when you went to sleep and you have a gun in your hand. You then find out that you were responsible for the deaths of who knows how many innocent Abnegation. How would you feel if that had happened? That's how the entire Dauntless faction had expirienced when they had woken up.
Also, imagine that you were divergent, and that you were in Dauntless. You do exactly what Tris had done. You follow the rest of the Dauntless, but then you do one thing wrong and people know right away that you are an enemy. Just like in the story, what if one of your friends had started to come after you? Shoot them before they shoot you?
The Erudite had put the entire Dauntless faction in that position. They had basicly destroyed two factions factions just to make the government allow other faction in the government, but after what they had doone. Is there really an organized government anymore? Everything has changed now between the factions. The government that was supposed to be a "Utopia" was all ruined by the Erudite and there "wonderful" plan to attack the Abnegation. Why would they throw two factions into chaos just for that? Was there something they were hiding? O.o
