The Hunger Games

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins is about a nation called Panem with twelve districts and the powerful Capitol. The Capitol forces one girl and one boy from each district to particapate in the Hunger Games. All twenty-four people fight for their lives for the entertainment of the Capital. Katniss and Peeta are chosen from district twelve in the Hunger Games. But their love gets in the way of one winner for the Hunger Games. In the book, there are two quotes that really stand out.

One quote from the book is when Peeta says, "I want to die as myself". This explains that even though Peeta is in the Hunger Games he won't change the personality of his. He thinks that people that have entered the Hunger Games changes as they go through with it. But Peeta doesn't want that to happen because we wants to be himself the entire time. He wasn't sure if he was going to die but he still didn't want to change.

Another quote that stood out was when Katniss says, "Rue's death has forced me to confront my own fury against the cruelty, the injustice they inflict upon us...". This can be compared to what Peeta says. He didn't want to change. But in this one, Katniss is forced to change. She forces herself to change. But Peeta forces himself not to. Anyways, this quote explains that Rue's death has forced her to step up her game to win. Her emotions about winning has gone up a lot! It also shows that she really cared about Rue as if she was Prim(which should be already known).

In conclusion., the Hunger Games shows us a lot of emotional feelings. The story really reaches to us because it is Dystopian Fiction! It is supposed to teach us a lesson in life! The characters in the book have learned theirs! Now it is the readers' turn to find it out!

  1. Maliha your idea is good but i have to disagree with you this book doesn't teach us much. the characters in the book show us what their opinions are on how their governments dont support certain areas. yes i do see where your ppoint is valid but through out the book Katniss doesn't learn much about her life lesson. she shows understanding and hatred toward the capitol, but honsestly i disagree with you on how this book gave us a life lesson.
